We announce the theme of the 11th International Biennial of Enamel Art
In 2026, one of the most important events in enamel art awaits us – the 11th International Enamel Art Biennial Vilnius 2026. The theme of the eleventh biennial is Sensitive Zones.
According to art historian Dr. Jurgita Ludavičienė:
“At present, both in Lithuania and around the world, the number of sensitive zones is increasing every day: in politics, in social life, in personal communication, and within each of our own psyches there are more and more things that feel frightening to touch. Therefore, each artwork becomes a unique map leading through territories that are intimate in many respects. Here, enamel speaks through colors and forms about what remains after words. The biennial seeks to expand the understanding of enamel – from decorative to conceptual – inviting artists to create works that address what is often left unspoken. Space is offered both for personal intimacy and for political sensitivity, immersing the viewer in slow looking and in listening to the material. Sensitive Zones is a place where enamel art created by artists of different nationalities quietly becomes mutual understanding, resistance, or confession.”
As early as February, we will open the call for applications to participate in the enamel biennial, which will be presented not only in Lithuania but also abroad.
The implementation of the enamel art program is supported by the Vilnius City Municipality.
